Hello Rattler Parents,
Some of you may have heard from your son's, the unfortunate news of the Dodson family. After Thursday night's game, Tavonn Dodson (#4 Varsity) went home to find out his mom had passed away from a tragic accident. Tavonn has two brothers, Paul (graduated NC last year and former football player) and Tony (a sophmore at NC). To help the family with the unexpected financial burden the NCHS football program will do the following:
Coach's wife, Kathy Cole will be taking the VARSITY player photos and will be donating the proceeds to the Dodson family. VARSITY photos are scheduled for this Tuesday. Thank you Kathy!

- Again, these are varsity photos on Tuesday, October 20th. The boys will be bringing home an order form (click here for .doc form) on Monday. Do not write the check to Kathy Cole Photography - make checks payable to: NCHS Football.
- If you want to make a donation to further help the Dodson family you can add it to your payment. If your photo package is $30 and you want to donate $20; write the check for $50 and we will know you are donating to the Dodson family.
- Please take advantage of this opportunity to support the family and get photos of your player. If you do not want the photos but can donate then please return your donation and make a note on the order form stating it's a donation to the Dodsons.
- We will consider deducting money from the Booster Club account to help the family and identifying a way to replace the funds after the services. We are thinking about a car wash but will welcome any ideas you may have to raise money for the family and/or to replace the Booster money.
- If you are not a VARSITY parent and would like to help the family, it would be greatly appreciated. Please send donations with your son. They can give the donation to their coach. Checks should be made payable to: NCHS Football and simply note "Dodson" on the memo line of your check.
The Phoenix Fire Department made a donation to help the family and the Desert Mountain coaches sent a donation to us after hearing about Tavonn's mother. Thank you to both Desert Mountain and the Fire Department!!!!
We do not know when services are yet but will be sure to send out a communication when we know the arrangements.
Thank you to all of you have already expressed interest in helping out. This is a difficult time for the Dodson family (and our boys!) - thank you in advance, for stepping up and helping out this Rattler family in their time of need!! Your support is appreciated.

SATURDAY MORNING FILM/BREAKFAST
I am looking for volunteers for this Saturday morning's team breakfast (during films.) In fact, if there is anyone interested in coordinating any of the upcoming Sat morning breakfasts I would love the help. With regards to this Saturday, we have no volunteers as of now so the menu or breakfast items are open. Please respond to Janet Porter if you can:
1. Coordinate a Saturday morning breakfast which means take the lead in getting other parents to donate to breakfast and make sure the boys get all they need for that particular morning i.e. paper plates, condiments, breakfast, etc. If you can take the lead, let me know which date will work for you. I will check with Coach because he may not have film on Sat the weeks we have Thurs night games.
2. Donate to this Saturday morning - either buy breakfast foods, cook or donate money
3. Contribute to an upcoming break and if so, which date?

Hamburgers/Hot Dogs & Buns
Cheese Slices
Ketchup, Mayo, Mustard, Ranch
4-6 bags of chips
3-5 different salads or veggie trays
Desserts
Drinks (Water/Gatorade)
Paper Plates, Napkins, Forks/Knives
2-3 long tables
2-3 Easy-Ups
Help setting up at 3:00pm & Teardown
The team will get fed from 3:30-4:00; please arrange for your contributions to be at the school at 3pm.

Parent Meeting
Attention Rattler Parents:
A parent meeting has been scheduled with Coach Cole on Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
in the NCHS gym. Please join us for topics such as: Season information along with question and answer with Coach Cole, fundraiser information, learn how you can support your player's team.
Attention Senior Parents:
Please attend meeting and bring photo's of your son for his featured page in the NCHS Football Program. This is their final year in high school - let's make it fun and show them how much we have enjoyed watching them grow. You can also email photo's in .jpg format to lschwindt@q.com.

Athletic Requirements
- The Athletic office will re-open on August 10, 2009.
- Students interested in participating is sports must complete a sports packet.
- In order to participate in District organized athletics, each athlete and one of their parents or legal guardians must watch the PVUSD Informed Concent movie either at a scheduled parent meeting or online - only once in four years of high school.

AIA Fee
· All players must pay the PVUSD AIA fee prior to the first football game. The fee is $200 and is payable to North Canyon High School and must be submitted to the Bookstore. The maximum for a family during a school year is $400. You may use your AZ tax credit when paying this fee. The tax credit amount is $200 for single taxpayers and $400 for taxpayers who file jointly.
